My childhood friend Kristina was one of the first people to go on this list. She has Amyotrophic Lateral Schlerosis, known colloquially as "Lou Gehrig's disease", which was also Stephen Hawking's disease. The average lifespan once diagnosed is about 5 years, though there are outliers. Apparently Stephen Hawking was the largest outlier that ever was, in fact: it expressed at an unusually young age in his case, and this made a big difference; but it is also perhaps a testament to the power of discovering one's purpose in life.
Anyway, when I first put Kristina on the prayer list, her doctors were preparing to put her in hospice care, as her ability to breath unaided was degrading at a fast rate and she was dealing with illness. I am pleased to report that I was in touch with her recently, and she says that after that, her breathing plateaued, and that her doctors now feel she may have 20 years left! Provided she doesn't run into any bad respiratory illnesses along the way. Anyway, this is very good news indeed, and I want to deeply thank all who have been praying on her behalf.
For now I will leave her prayer on the list as is. She is thinking about revising the prayer, though. She has been thinking for some time now, actually; communication can be difficult for her, so I'm not going to rush her. But I just wanted to update everyone.
