Last night at my house, my eight-year-old daughter said, "Hey daddy, want to color with me? I got a coloring book at the thrift store!"
"Sure. What kind of coloring book is it?"
"Goddesses! I'm going to color Aphrodite. Who do you want to color?"
Now, I assume a cheap, goddess-themed coloring book isn't going to be very sophisticated, so I asked her for Amaterasu Omikami, figuring that, when She wasn't in there, we could talk about some of the lesser-known mythologies in the West. (We homeschool, so I'm always looking for teaching opportunities for her.) But to my surprise, she answered, "Yeah, She's right here, here you go!"
And what surprised me even more was that, right next to Her, was Konohanasakuya-hime! I thought of you, sinners4diseasecontrol, and pray that your creative project is going well.
