Mr. Beekeeper update:

They bumped John's surgery to today, March 27. He got out of the OR a little while ago, the surgeon tells me that he ended up with a quadruple bypass and an ablation to resolve his long-standing A fib. We had been warned earlier by his nurse that the weakness of his heart might well necessitate additional mechanical assistance after surgery in addition to the standard protocol.

The surgeon said that John did very well, he is on temporary (standard) mechanical assistance, but the expectation is that he won't need if for long and he won't need anything additional to support his heart, very good news indeed. He's sedated for the time being to help his heart, but the surgeon thinks they'll bring him out of it tomorrow and I'll be able to talk to him.

When I brought him to the hospital on March 9 he was truly in very bad shape and survival was not assured. The news so far has been better than we could have hoped for and I am quite sure that all the prayers made a huge difference; in fact, they made the most important difference. Thank you to everyone!
