I think the issue is one of consent. We don't have the cursing person's consent to pray on their behalf. Neither does SDI, and so from some points of view he still shouldn't pray for them; but he makes the quite reasonable seeming argument that because the cursing person is doing things to harm SDI and his family without their consent, then SDI has the right to return the favor in kind. We don't have any sort of relationship with the curser, so there is no way we could pray for them in a way that respects their consent.
