* * * This week I would like to bring special attention to the following prayer requests.

May Falling Tree Woman's son's girlfriend's mother Bridget in Devon UK, who has recently started to sit up and converse after more than six weeks of bedridden tracheotomy following a life-threatening fall from a horse, be blessed and healed and returned to full health.

May Corey Benton, whose throat tumor has grown around an artery and won't be treated surgically, be healed of throat cancer.

May Heather's brother in law, Patrick, who is dying of cancer and has dementia, go gentle into that good light. And may his wife Maggie, who is ill herself, find the strength and peace she needs for her situation. (Update on Patrick's condition here)

May Neptune's Dolphins' husband David, who lost one toe to a staph infection last year and now faces further toe amputations due to diabetic ulcers in his left foot, be blessed and healed, and may the infection leave his body for good.

May Rebecca, who has just been laid off from her job and is the sole provider for her family, quickly discover a viable means to continue to support her family; may she and her family be blessed and sustained in their journey forward.

May Kyle's friend Amanda, who though in her early thirties is undergoing various difficult treatments for brain cancer, make a full recovery; and may her body and spirit heal with grace.

Tyler A's wife Monika's pregnancy is high risk, and has now successfully entered the third trimester; may Monika and baby Isabelle both be blessed with good health and a smooth delivery.

Lp9's hometown, East Palestine, Ohio, for the safety and welfare of their people, animals and all living beings in and around East Palestine, and to improve the natural environment there to the benefit of all.

May all people, animals, and other beings around the highway, the adjacent river and the harbor be protected and blessed, and may the natural environment improve to the benefit of all. •Danny and Mary, in Donegal, Ireland, are still stunned by the sudden loss in March 2023 of their four-year-old grandson Darragh, a bright and bubbly wee child who was well loved. For Danny and Mary, for Darragh's brother Daniel, for Darragh's surviving family as a whole, may all of their hearts heal and mend, may all of their sorrows find comfort, and may all find peace in the face of their shared and tragic loss of Darragh. I offer this update with much joy following my prayer request a few days ago re Bridget the mother of my son’s girlfriend who was unconscious after a nasty fall from her horse. She is coming round, has had her breathing tube removed, has waved at family members, mouthed her husband’s name and indicated she knows she has two daughters. It’s a big turn around from where things were and such a huge relief to all who know and love her. I give heartfelt thanks to anyone who offered prayers, I shall continue to pray for her onward healing and recovery. We are in Devon, England btw Falling Tree Woman

The process was arduous: as it turned out, there were a lot of hidden problems with the house which we were unaware of and which needed fixing. Our agent in Oklahoma was an absolute angel, and I don't know how we would have accomplished all the work without them; so our prayers were, indeed, answered.

Honey Badger

Can we add my friend Honey Badger to the list again. He's just going through some really hard times now and is losing hope. He said yesterday he feels cursed, and all kinds of things that should just work are falling apart. He wants to move away somewhere. He needs a job he likes. Ultimately, he's about to take a huge life-changing step into the unknown.

Can we pray that Honey Badger receive blessings and divine guidance in his time of need.

Hello MJ, I apologize for the slow reply, I'm having an unusual week. The phrasing is a bit more coercive, for lack of a better word, than I'm normally comfortable with, but as it's with Nathan's consent, and a divination on that phrasing gave very good results, I'm going to go with it.

Please feel free to update at any time, especially in 3 months time if you wish the prayer to continue. May Nathan get his life together!

Update on MindWinds' dad

My dad, Clem, will be undergoing surgery next Monday the 12th to remove the blood clots left over from his fall. He is so far recovering well, and we hope the surgery will take care of any lingering issues. Please pray that his surgery goes well, and that he has enjoys a full recovery.

Thanks for all the prayers so far - I think they're making a good difference!

The surgery went perfectly and Dad was able to come home the next day.

I credit all your prayers for such a grand outcome. Thanks also to his surgeon and all the nurses who provided such excellent care.

Japan's Earthquakes

When the earthquake here in Japan happened on 1/1, my wife shared with me conspiracy theories that it was actually a test of earthquake-producing technologies with certain nebulous parties telegraphing their capabilities to certain other nebulous parties through the deed. Considering that the next big earthquake was on 8/8, and that the Japanese Meteorological Agency took the unprecedented step of giving a megaquake earthquake warning in the aftermath, sparking fear and panic buying in the population... well, the timing certainly gives one pause! I don't *think* I take such conspiracies seriously, but I guess I'll be a little extra on my guard on 9/9, 10/10, 11/11, and 12/12!

Anyway, I'm adding a prayer on behalf of the country where I've chosen to live:

May the country of Japan be blessed and protected from the potential megaquake about which its population is currently on alert.

January 1 was really quite the coincidence, but 8/8? I didn't even realize it until now. Thank you for mentioning that.

Come to think of it, 10/10 is the big Kompira Taisai day. I note they are just barely out of reach of the expected serious impacts from a Nankai Trough megathrust quake. I believe they would go ahead with it.

I am not sure we will be able to go. Shinobu's brother is dealing with gradually more severe rheumatism after the vixens. If Shinobu feels he must stay, I may go on by myself, and pick you up in Kyoto.

I finally heard from Morita-san. He sent a mid-year greeting card. He did not mention his telephone conversation with me, so I take that to mean no.

One idea I have is to approach Asakawa Kompira, all of whom (about five now) would probably welcome a chance for experiential study.

Maro's spiritual journey

First, I wish to thank everyone who has helped pray for my deceased Uncle Bob, the courageous Gonzalo Lira and my kitty Maro. I think the former two have made the transition to their current existence successfully, and Maro is making good progress.
I have blocked off my kamidana until the 50th day following Maro's death. That is not requisite for a pet death, but he was more than a pet to us. Shortly after his death, I dreamt of him in a maze, but enjoying the adventure. A week later, I dreamt of him on the plain of infinite wisdom. A week after that, while engaging in misogi under a waterfall (the only sane place to be in this weather), my divination emphasized the east, where the quick earth solidifies--a human wind, and the north, which steels the earth and returns it--a black wind, which suggests he was already well underway in his journey to rebirth. It also emphasized "Hinomoto hitotsu" meaning Japan and "human harbor." It suggests he will become a human in Japan, which jives with his journey so far. He wanted to be a human in the life he just left, and Shinobu says he looked disappointed when he saw his relfection as a cat.

When I first met Maro a half century ago, he was a baby bullsnake my biology teacher brought me, mistaking him for a nightsnake. I raised him, and people said he was clearly attached to me. I released him into the wild before departing for Japan. A few years later I had a sudden strong vision of him, and realizing he had died, I urged him to try becoming a cat as a reasonable step forward. After that, I continued to have occasional strong visions of him. He healed or protected me several times. It seems to me that he was reincarnated at least once more as a snake, and I was expecting him to go purely spiritual because he was so strongly oriented that way. My impression is that for a snake, there is not much difference between life and interlife. Of course, the Hopi are noted for esteeming snakes' spiritual connectedness.
About ten years ago, when he was healing me from a bad cold, I got a look at how a snake views the world--transparent, with the goal in view. and as I formulated that non-verbal vision into words to share on JMG's blog, the snake could see what I was doing--what my goal was--and was impressed.
In January 2020, I had a sudden vision of him again. He'd been stretching himself out in a comfortable warm place and was suddenly attacked by something big, he couldn't tell what. He'd crawled off to a bush, and it was too late to try to heal him. However, I knew exactly what had attacked him. Poor snake out on a road. That ability to deduce
useful information really impressed him.
We adopted Maro about ten months later, and I shortly realized who he was. I had initially been hoping he would go from cat to dog for a life or two, because the transition from cat to human strikes me as very difficult. There was something rather dog-like about him, though, even as a bullsnake, and Maro, as a cat, was often mistaken for a dog at a distance. And it also says a lot that he died defending his house.
I think as a human, if my divination is correct, he will have to overcome insecurity and jealousy issues, which snakes don't face, but he would make a good soldier. The important thing in the life he just finished is that he learned the basics of language, i.e., a sound represents something physical. He also got his first taste of the difficulties animals capable of complex thought face.
The other evening we were out walking with Akko, his sister, and Shinobu saw a cloud that looked just like Maro. As we watched, the cloud transformed into a human face, a very rugged masculine one at that.
I expect his spirit to hang out with us until Obon is over, and then begin the hard work of his transition. At that point, I will change the prayer accordingly, but until then, I am grateful to everyone for helping him remember his spiritual connections.

I have been too busy to do anything with my project, but thank you all for your prayers there and promise to get back to that work as soon as possible.

I just heard some very good news from Deathcap re: his friend Mike, who underwent a 5 week course of radiation treatment after a nearly fatal surgery for a malignant tumor on his leg and has been on this list for 5 months. Apparently Mike is doing fine, just a little bit of drop foot due to nerve issues with said leg. So he can come off the list.

Hello Quin I am very pleased to report that Bridget (the mother of my son’s girlfriend who fell from her horse) has been moved to a hospital nearer her home - her tracheotomy has been removed and she is sitting up and talking and has taken a few steps though It’s not yet clear how much her cognitive processes have been affected. I am so grateful for everyone who has offered prayers and to you for curating this list and to JMG for hosting on his blogs. (After this update perhaps the prayer can be changed to reflect Bridget’s more positive circumstances and ongoing journey of healing.

I am very sad to hear you lost Nicodeus! I can well sympathize, as we lost a very dear kitty recently (Maro in the list). He too, bravely stood his ground. I'll add Nicodemus to my list.
